In India, the private sector can participate in the development of space technology, but the role had been hitherto limited to the manufacture and supply of components and sub-systems. However, a recent announcement has allowed the private sector to carry out space activities like building rockets, satellites and providing launch services. The space economy is rapidly evolving now with a dedicated policy for space and legislation on space activities on the verge of finalization. Furthermore, to enhance utilization and maximize benefits from space assets, the Demand Based Model is evolving.
