NADA and NCERT enter into MoU to Promote Sports Education among Students

The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a value-based sports education system focussing on sports values and ethics. In the press release dated March 3, 2023, it is specified that the curriculum will be primarily based on the UNESCO Value-Based Sports Education Toolkit, which will be promoted in classrooms. The MoU envisages making available the content on sports values and ethics.

This step is taken in view of India being a signatory to the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sports and having a responsibility to promote value-based sports education and ensure clean sports in the country. During the event, Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Department of Sports, emphasised the importance of instilling positive sports values in young athletes to ensure they practice clean sports as they grow older. She stated that the MoU would significantly enhance NADA’s outreach programs, particularly at the grassroots level.
