India Fails to Secure Seats to WADA Committees

India’s Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur and the Director General of the National Anti-Doping Agency, Ritu Sain, failed to garner sufficient votes to win seats in two influential committees of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

India participated in the bid after many years, intending to contribute to fair play and clean sports and have a more prominent voice in the region. Since 2013, India has also been in the top 10 as far as drug offenders are concerned. India’s National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) was granted accreditation after a two-year suspension over non-compliance with WADA’s protocols.
