ICC Introduces Stop Clock in Men’s ODI and T20I Cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to use a stop clock in men’s ODI and T20I games to regulate the amount of time taken between overs. If the bowling team is not ready to bowl the next over within 60 seconds of the previous over being completed, the team will face a 5-run penalty the third time it happens in an inning.

This decision was taken by the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC) at a board meeting held on November 21, 2023, and will be implemented on a trial basis from December 2023 to April 2024.

At this meeting, several other decisions were taken, including approval of the changes to the pitch and outfield monitoring regulations, suspension of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), gender eligibility regulations, etc.
