The members of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) have approved the final steps in the Association’s liquidation. The decision was taken at the Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) held on September 14, 2023.
When the Council recommended the GAISF’s dissolution, the members voted for the dissolution in November 2022 when two EGAs were conducted. A total of 70 votes were received in favour, and 22 votes were received against the dissolution. Thereafter, a liquidator was appointed, and the principles of asset distribution were determined.
At the EGA held on September 14, the members approved the final balance sheet and the distribution of assets, liabilities, and activities.
Certain assets were transferred to SportAccord pursuant to the EGAs held in November 2022. The organisation “is due to approve a new set of Statutes in November 2023 at the IF Forum in Lausanne. These will include a revised governance structure whereby all the IF umbrella bodies (ASOIF, AIOWF, ARISF and AIMS) will be represented”.
