Gianni Infantino was elected FIFA president for four years after running unopposed in the election. Gianni will be in charge of soccer’s governing body. He was re-elected after winning the election in 2016 and again in 2019. He will stay in the post of President beyond the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Under FIFA rules and regulations, he can contest the post again and stay in power for another World Cup cycle until 2031. As per FIFA’s statutes, his first three years of the presidency did not count against the 12-year limit, as he completed the unfinished term his predecessor started.
