Bihar Cabinet Approves Bylaws to Strengthen the Sports Sector

On December 12, 2022, the Bihar Cabinet approved bylaws for the smooth operation of the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), Patna. This move is expected to facilitate the conceptualization of the state’s sports policy. The said bylaws provide for the promotion and development of sports activities, offer facilities for the inculcation of technical skills in sportspersons and are intended to strengthen the sports sector.

The bylaws also prescribe the organization of sports programs at various levels. It further lays down that the Chief Minister of the state would assume the position of Chairman of the BSSA, the Deputy Chief Minister would take on the role of the Executive Chairman, and the sports minister would take the Vice Chairman’s position, whereas the Chief Secretary and the Development Commissioner will become members of the BSSA.
