The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is formulating a policy for retired Indian cricketers concerning their participation in overseas T20 leagues. Currently, there is no such policy, and it is stated that upon retirement, the cricketers would have to adhere to a cooling-off period during which they wouldn’t be allowed to participate in other leagues.
In several instances, players took part in T20 leagues shortly after their retirement. In light of this, it was considered necessary to regulate the participation of retired players in overseas leagues.
It is reported that the Board’s Apex Council will decide on the policy in its meeting scheduled for July 7, 2023.
