AIFF Notifies Members of Internal Complaints Committee for 2024

Through a circular dated January 5, 2024, the All India Football Federation notified members of the Internal Complaints Committee. The same is as per Section 4 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, which requires every employer of a workplace to set up an ICC.

The Committee comprises a Presiding Officer, six members from various departments and two external members. It has been constituted for a period from January 1, 2024, to December 2024. The members have been urged to familiarise themselves with the Act’s provisions.

Back in May 2023, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notices to sports bodies for not having an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) or properly functional ICCs as required under the law. The Commission took cognizance of media reports that highlighted that as many as 15 of the 30 National Sports Federations did not have an ICC or comply with the requirements thereof.
