Reliance announced it’s support for the country’s athletes in major multi-sport events as part of a long-term partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). This decision was taken to enhance the performance of Indian e-athletes and to support India’s reputation as a destination for global sports so that it can host Olympic Games in the future. The Reliance Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the telecom giant, led by its director, Nita Ambani. She is also a member of the International Olympic Committee.
In continuation of this partnership, RIL and IOA will host India’s first ever House in the Paris Olympics in 2024. This is essentially a hospitality house where all of the countries competing in the Olympics promote their country and hold events to honour their winning athletes. This decision comes after India hosts the 140th IOC session in June 2023 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. This session will be hosted during India’s 75th year of independence to display India’s contribution to the Olympic Movement.
