Fox & Mandal is established in Kolkata (Calcutta, as it was then known) as one of the first Indo-British law firms, by Mr Gokul Chandra Mandal and Mr J.K. Fox.

10 December 1919

The world saw the initiation of the first scheduled transborder airline services.

10 December 1930

The first global radio broadcast, the speech of George V opening the London Naval Conference, is relayed simultaneously to 242 stations across six continents.

The Computer is invented thereby leading to increased computing capabilities

10 December 1946

Sudhir Kumar Mandal (S. K. Mandal) becomes the solicitor to the Central Government in Calcutta for a period of 23 years from February 1946 to March 1969, and Solicitor of the Income Tax Department for about 20 years from 1950 to 1970.

10 December 1952

Fox & Mandal Partner, Saila Kumar Mukherjee is appointed Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

10 December 1953

Fox & Mandal assists Bank of Tokyo to establish operations in Calcutta. The bank, erstwhile Yokohama Specie Bank is now known as the MUFG Bank.

The first mobile phone is created by Martin Cooper.

Late Mr. Dinabandu (Dinu) Mandal, Senior Partner and third generation of the founding partner takes the initiative to be closer to the clients in North India and sets up an office in New Delhi as Fox Mandal & Co.

The World Wide Web is introduced by Tim Berners-Lee while working at CERN (Geneva).

14 December 1995

Fox & Mandal expands its operation into Bangalore.

10 December 1996

Fox Mandal & Associates is established in Bangalore to cater to clients in South India with Mr. Shuva Mandal of the fourth generation taking charge.

10 December 2010

The Fox Mandal Foundation is established to help further the firm’s social responsibility through various initiatives concerning free legal services, quality legal education, environment, sustainability, supporting the unprivileged and so on.

The Fox Mandal Foundation supports early-stage entrepreneurs by providing free space, legal and accounting assistance through “Orygin”. It is a sector-agnostic business incubator that is committed to support and enable entrepreneurs in fintech, analytics, e-commerce, healthcare or indeed any other space with the potential to transform society.
